We have had a fairly lively demand throughout June.
I haven’t put a fork in many new crops yet but reports say there is a very mixed bag out there. Early areas seem to be on time but most local crops seem to be late and thirsty.
We will be holding our summer variety trial day in July and our ‘pre burn off’ wash up in September, which will be combined with the annual benchmarking exercise and discussion about storage and CIPC application.
The Potato Council have announced their first estimate of plantings which shows a 6.6% reduction from last year at 113,000 ha’s. This is excellent news and confidence is starting to build for next season.
