Potatoes appear to have sold well over Christmas mainly on the back of some very strong promotions.
TESCO have been selling 2.5kg of whites for 49 pence to compete with ALDI who have been offering piper at 29 pence for 1.5kg. These are crazy prices and the losses incurred don’t bear thinking about.
Unfortunately the overall Christmas trade for the major retailers wasn’t too special and the Morrisons Chief Executive, Dalton Phillips, has paid the price for poor trading figures.
